Rick Lee – An innovator in the world of modern design.
Of Chinese descent, born in Korea he came to the US as a 12 year old. He earned a degree in Industrial Design and honed those skills by designing and creating pieces for design studios and manufacturers in Chicago. A move to Milan in his 20’s helped forge the distinctive artistic style seen in his work today.Today he designs a multitude of product for vendors whose product we carry in our store. His work is all so unique and different it is almost impossible to say “Oh that’s a Rick Lee design!” he designs for a diverse group of manufacturers in North America and Europe. They include Bonaldo, Magis, American Leather, DWR, San Francisco Opera Guild and the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art.Lee considers the term “California Cuisine” an apt metaphor for his art—a mix of seemingly incongruent ingredients that are carefully combined to create something that inspires and pleases.
