Our design projects often involve redoing beautiful spaces. Sometimes we work with what’s already there, and sometimes an empty space lets our imagination run free. A recent project involved a gorgeous but empty home with plenty of potential. The end result, care of our talented designer Bianca Torres, is simply breathtaking.
We highly recommend taking a look for yourself, so you’ll definitely want to see the video for this project.
Our clients came by the showroom to meet with Bianca, and the first step was to take a tour of the showroom. This is useful to introduce them to our style as well as find out what pieces we have that really catch their eye or imagination.
After the tour, the meeting began. This is where personality and preferences are uncovered, and as usual this meeting was very warm and convivial. Bianca’s main goal at these meetings, besides making the client feel comfortable, is to learn as much about them as possible.
During the course of the meeting, Bianca learned that the clients loved to travel and had a rich history of touring all over the world, often picking up fabulous pieces of art in the process. The clients had a second home in France, and their new home in Florida was completely unfurnished.
An unfurnished home is both a daunting challenge and an irresistible invitation for any designer. When the meeting ended, Bianca began brainstorming.
Our clients’ home had many straight lines, square forms, and linear spaces, which Bianca counterbalanced with more flowing and gracious forms. The neutral color palette of the home also meant that Bianca could play freely with light and color—and a large art collection which would add surprising splashes of color and form.
For furnishings, many pieces were more curved, rounded, or irregular in order to make an appealing counterpoint to the space, making it more varied and visually appealing. Bianca learned the clients often took home sand from beaches around the world, and used that as inspiration to take the beach inside through applying colors and textures.
One of Bianca’s favorite areas from the project is the dining room, a neutral and gorgeously appointed space that’s topped off with elegant LED Crystal Wallpaper that sparkles during the day and shines at night. Another favorite area is the kitchen seating area, where her favorite Reflex chairs are customized with red piping, blue fabric and white leather as an homage to the flags of both America and France!
The blank canvas is the starting point for any stunning piece, and when set against the discipline and determination of an artist, it becomes pure potential. Bianca’s talent for understanding clients and getting to the themes and motifs that best express them helped her do an amazing job of making both the interior and exterior furnishings absolutely stunning—all while including some remarkable pieces of art the clients wished to display.
