The partnership highlights the remarkable work that 4Kids has been doing in the community for the past 27 years. They’ve been a source of hope for children entering the foster care system, providing love, care, and a safe haven.

4Kids of South Florida serves a crucial role in supporting children who find themselves in foster care. Their mission is clear: to assist these children and work alongside parents to create a plan to reunite them in the future.

In South Florida, the foster care situation has reached a critical level. It’s a crisis that deserves recognition. With this Pajama Drive, Sklar Furnishings and 4Kids aim to bring awareness to the people who might not be aware that an alarming average of 7 to 10 children enter the foster care system daily.

4Kids isn’t just striving to provide support to this vulnerable group of children; but they aim to be the voice of these children in the fight against this crisis.

We joined forces with 4Kids, a dedicated organization making a profound difference in the lives of children in foster care. They plant an array of different species, focusing on fruit-bearing trees and shade trees, to feed, provide habitat, and beautify areas. Through their collective efforts, they are working towards a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

We honor their mission by pledging a donation on a monthly basis.We love the fact that through our partnership with Community Greening, we are directly helping our local communities. Restoring the Environment One Tree at a Time

Dedicated to protecting our environment, Community Greening has planted over 18,200 trees with the help of more than 11,000 volunteers and sponsors from West Palm Beach to Deerfield Beach. The trees help clean air and water, reduce energy costs, increase property values, improve health and well-being, and generate business.

Community Greening is giving local teens the opportunity to learn about green jobs, as well as educating the public about the benefits of tree planting. They are planting trees on school campuses and playgrounds to cool and clean the air, and are even offering free trees to residents during tree giveaways. Employee Spotlight: Linda Gunn Paton, Delray Beach Chamber Business Person of the Year and Community Champion at Sklar Furnishings

We are delighted to announce that Linda Paton, our Vice President of Customer Experience at Sklar Furnishings, has been awarded the prestigious Delray Beach Chamber’s Business Person of the Year Award. This recognition not only acknowledges Linda’s exceptional leadership at Sklar but also her remarkable contributions to the community.

Linda’s journey is marked by her extensive experience as a National Sales Director in the consumer goods industry. Linda started her career in retail sales management. Later, she moved into the wholesale field, working with luxury brands in the jewelry and eyewear industries. Linda’s passion for fashion and her effortless ability to put things together led her to the field of design and furniture, which is a perfect fit for her.

In her five years at Sklar Furnishings, Linda has enjoyed many roles. She leads the Commercial Design Division in the showroom, overseeing projects that include designing lobbies and common areas. She successfully worked to develop projects in and around Boca Raton.

Linda’s role has always been more than just being about design; she was also the General Manager of the showroom.

A Business Leader Making a Difference in the Community

There is much more to Linda than her professional accomplishments and that is her unwavering commitment to community outreach. This is what made Linda’s application for the Delray Beach Chamber’s Business Person of the Year Award stand out. Embracing one of Sklar Furnishings’ core pillars, Linda ensures the showroom actively supports local nonprofits. She organizes events, drives, and initiatives each month to contribute to various charitable causes.

Linda is committed to our local YMCA South Palm Beach County. She sits on the Board of Trustees. She has been the Chair of the Annual Giving Campaign two years running, Chairs the Marketing Committee and helps with the Inspiration Breakfast, one of the YMCA’s fundraisers. Linda is a long time member of the Junior League of Boca Raton, where she served as President and is now a Sustaining Advisor. She is a member of Impact 100 and a Community Captain with the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. With the Delray Beach Chamber, Linda serves on the Focus on Women Committee working to celebrate and bring together women in our community.

Sklar’s Dedication to the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl

Linda Paton, Sklar Furnishings’ Director of Sales and Marketing, has been a passionate supporter of Boca Raton Bowl. She is a Community Captain and enjoys being able to provide an exceptional experience for the players and coaches who come to Boca Raton for the game. Sklar actively contributes to the pre-game excitement by supporting the Pep Rally, which takes place the night before the big game. The Pep Rally is a lively, fun event featuring the bands and cheer teams from participating teams engaging in a band playoff! It helps set the tone for the game day festivities and Linda’s husband is the host!

On the game day itself, Linda puts together the party everyone wants to be at before the actual game. The VIP party is normally attended by around 1100 people. The VIP party attracts the Who’s Who of Boca Raton who eat and drink while enjoying tunes from Wolfhawk, a local band and a playoff between the two college bands! This event adds an extra layer of enjoyment for the attendees, enhancing the overall experience of the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl!

More notably, as Boca Bowl navigated post-pandemic challenges, Sklar Furnishings played an important role in supporting the event. They hosted the kickoff event, “Women Changing the Game,”. This event highlights women in high level positions in sports. It is a great way to understand how the executive side of sports is changing and bringing in more women to lead the way!

Hosting 101: Sklar Furnishings Supports Achievement Centers

Understanding the significance of this community initiative, Sklar Furnishings has teamed up with Achievement Centers for a unique event called Hosting 101. Guests will be able to purchase tickets to learn various hosting techniques and have a lot of fun! The event will be held in the Sklar Showroom on Thursday, August 24th, from 6-8 pm. 

Partnering with Grimes Tents and Events, an incredible company in Delray Beach, we will provide table setups where attendees can explore cocktail making, wine tasting, charcuterie board preparation, napkin folding, and tablescape design.

Supporting Impact 100 Palm Beach County with Sklar Furnishings

Sklar Furnishings is always looking for ways to give back to the Boca Raton community. One cause that is near and dear to our hearts is Impact 100 Palm Beach County. This organization is a collective of women from all walks of life who come together to make a difference in their community. 

For those unfamiliar with Impact 100, it is a collective giving organization that is made up of more than 1,000 women who come together each year to fund grants to local nonprofit organizations. Each member donates $1,000 a year and the funds are pooled together to award grants to non-profit organizations that are making a difference in their community. These grants are all for $100,000 and go to groups who implement high impact initiatives in southern Palm Beach County. These organizations that apply include everything from education, food shortage, day care, sustainability, animal shelter and more.
