The Colors of 2021

This year’s colors are about to become last year’s colors, and the new palette choices are packed with stylish potential. Given the events of 2020, we expected more comforting colors than challenging ones, and our expectations have certainly been met. From metallic hues to blissful blues, there’s plenty to unpack!

Sherwin Williams: Urbane Bronze

Subtle and sleek, Urbane Bronze exudes a neutral, calm energy while also establishing a certain simple coziness. Sherwin Williams chose Urbane Bronze due to its ability to create a tranquil atmosphere and its nature-inspired energy. We see that working very well in spaces like the dining room.

From Cattelan Italia, the striking metallic forms of the Marathon Dining Table and angular Kayak Buffet are perfect complements. The Speedform Chandelier or Segno Dining Table from Reflex are perfect to add a dash of well-coordinated copper to the dining space.

The grand Splendor Dining Table is another excellent option, with its imposing form and deep colors offset by reflective brass pillars. Finally, the Nuevo Oblo Dining Table features a fluid rounded walnut tabletop on a dramatic bronze pedestal.

Benjamin Moore: Aegean Teal

The Mary Accent Chair combines three tones in leather and fabric with plenty of comfort and an avant-garde design, three bands of neutral color make this chair an enchanting pairing with Aegean Teal, and a delightful piece in its own right. The Grove Swivel Chair’s cozy, curved form makes an inspired complement as well as a nice seat for relaxing. The New York Sectional’s wavy quilted patterns, minimalist design, and inviting presence really enhances the welcoming spirit of Aegean Teal.

New Year, New Palette

Soothing, simple, serene seem to be the main guiding lights in the colors of the year for 2021. It’s no surprise that the home has been brought back into focus as the core of our world, which is why calming colors are making a big comeback. After all, who doesn’t want their home to be as restful as possible?

Pantone’s color of 2021 is still unreleased at the time of writing, but we’re betting it’s going to follow the overall trend of soothing, subtle, and serene colors. Hues that nourish our sense of peace at home are great choices in a time of stress and uncertainty.
