In terms of scale and material combination, the Scarabee Stacking Vessel is the largest Stacking Vessel. Every part of the piece is made by a different maker in Europe. As a sculpture, the piece becomes functional only when taken apart into its individual containers. Each piece of glass is mouth blown. A metal tool guided by the maker's hand pushes solid sheets over a positive form to spin the metal. Once patinated, copper becomes blue-green and is combined with glass and wood for the stacking vessels.
