Your house does not need to be transformed into a winter wonderland in order to look festive during the holidays. Choosing just a few of the items on our list is sure to warm up your home for the holidays.
Cookies: Talk about utility! Food that doubles as decor! There is nothing more inviting than a tray, jar or cake stand artfully stacked with cookies, especially at Christmas time. You can even turn gingerbread cookies into tree ornaments. Before you put them in the oven to bake, use the tip of an icing bag to punch a small hole in the cookie. After they are done baking and you have iced them thread some twine or yarn through them and then hang them on the tree.
A wreath: Greenery always brightens up the home. A simple wreath made from real evergreens are our favorite. If you can’t get your hands on the real thing, don’t worry about it, there are many realistic artificial options on the market and the perk is you can re-use it every year.
White Lights: Who can resist the sparkle and twinkle of white lights? They truly dazzle and warm up the home with Christmas whimsy! Hang some strands of lights around a window pane or mantel. If they are battery operated, another great option is to place them in a clear jar and they can act as a bright centrepiece.
Artfully wrapped gifts: Putting impeccably wrapped gifts under your tree really takes things up a notch! It not only serves as decor, but it also motivates you to wrap gifts earlier in the season instead of at the last minute. To really jazz up your presents, get some 2.5 – 3 inch ribbons and make your own bows. They will look super luxe sitting under the tree.
A Christmas tree: A tree is a must for this list. It doesn’t have to be gargantuan or have a ton of decorations to make an impact. Half of the fun is putting it up with your loved ones!
